What's Your Style? ...and other tidbits

Gotta make this a short and sweet one, but the quiz was definitely interesting. What's crazy is - I never have thought of myself as a very introverted person. Seems, though - I parent sort of intervertedly. Forgive me for making up that word. It just works.

Here are my results from this mommy test.

Your type is: The Tuned In Mother (INFP)]
*By the way - the INFP breakdown is as follows:
I: Introverted
N: Intuitive
F: Feeling
P: Perceiving

* Aware, astute, and understanding, the INFP mother is sensitive to her child’s needs, feelings, and perceptions. By observing and listening to the cues of the whole child, she is “tuned in” and naturally develops an intuitive feel for what he or she needs. Responsive and helpful as well, she tends patiently to those needs as they arise.
* The INFP mother is comfortable letting her children follow their own course of development and make their own choices. She offers encouragement and uses her insights to head off trouble and difficult issues.
* The INFP mother takes vicarious pleasure giving her children good experiences and watching them enjoy childhood. She’s happiest creating pleasant, memorable times for the whole family.

What the test results DIDN'T tell me however, is why the bleeping bleep sickness must prevail in our family (extended too!)... This past weekend, we traveled to Harkers Island for Joel and Lauren's Wedding Reception. We had the best time, especially at the reception and at Aunt Glenda's beach on Monday... Leaving time was quickly approaching when the lightbulb moment hit. What if Jackson stayed at H.I. for a few days with Grandma and her posse, and then we meet in the middle later in the week to have him returned to his rightful owners. Sounds perfect doesn't it? ('specially considering Jackson really didn't wanna leave the clan of cousins which are all within breathing distance...) Afterall, Pa has been saying to me for some time now, "Lee, I can't wait for Jackson to be old enough to want to stay down here a little extra after you head home one of these days." I took it literally. SOOOO, we departed, a family short one member, on Monday evening around 6:30ish, I think. As far as I can tell, all was well for most of Tuesday, UNTIL... the bug... the mean ol' stomach bug hit him - and Grandma. We (Grandma & I) chatter over the phone a couple times trying to figure out the best course of action - to stay - or not to stay - that was the question. The alternative was, of course, to hit the road and do that little "meet in the middle" thing then and there (8:00 last night). Thankfully, Jackson quickly fell asleep after that phone call, and we decided that we'd stick it out (or rather, Grandma would stick it out). Today has been better, but the bug - of course, has spreads like wild fire. As far as I know - others "hit" so far are: Joel & Lauren, James, Rae Lynn, Uncle Tommy, and Lauren's dad. May it pass. Quickly. And without a vengeance. That is my prayer.

Meanwhile, back at the homestead - I've done laundry. Lots of it. And dishes. Oh, and got some lantana and begonias at Lowe's. Got a few of them planted today. Hopefully I'll get the rest in the ground by the end of this week. Will post pics soon. :)

Oh, and here are a few from the trip. TELL me they didn't have a blast!!!

Oh, and one final honorable mention - THANK YOU MAMA!!!

beautimus... blogger... chillax... ginormous... instering

what do those words have in common, you ask?

i'm sure you can get it without my help, so i'll give you a second.

look closely.

yep, you're starting to see it.

that's right - they're "new" words. the first four more common than the last, but that's ok; its actually a jackson-ism (he actually coined that phrase one day when i told him what a baby's name was - he said, "well that's a very instering name.").

curious about the others and their meaning?

beautimus

lousy definition, mind you: blogger

chillax

ginormous

ok, finally - why am i telling you all this. BECAUSE!! i have a word! (and apparently i've forgotten how to use the shift key at the beginning of a sentence.)

the last thing i wanna do is built it up like the friend who tells you you "HAVE" to see such-and-such movie, cause its the best movie "EVER" and you go and see it and you're let down that it was actually NOT that great and you don't know why that person is even your friend in the first place. *sigh* but, without any further adieu...

my word is: blorthy ... a shortened version of "blog worthy."

go ahead and tell me how lame i am to have an entire post dedicated to my crazy "need to get out of the house more" thought processes. it's ok. i can handle it. just remember though, that when that blorthy moment is happening in your life, you'll think of me and the afterthought just might be, "genius." or "crazy." i don't care.

American Idol...and the like

WHY do I get so into these "artsy" reality tv shows?!

"American Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance," and "Dancing With The Stars" especially...

I even gave these a chance
~ "America's Best Dance Crew" (The Randy Jackson baby on MTV)
~ "America's Got Talent"
~ "Star Search" (I just hadta)
~ "Step It Up and Dance"
~ "Dance Wars"
~ "Clash of the Choirs"
~ another 12 or so that I'm surprisingly forgetting right now...

Anyway, if I seem to be a tween by the song choices that are at the top in my playlist, then so be it. I can't help it that one out of every five songs I hear nowadays has a spot in my memory bank that relates to one of the aforementioned shows. I can't help it if I secretly want to be friends with Marissa Jaret Winokur (*even though I had to google how to spell her name), and absolutely detest Samantha Harris's co-hosting and interviewing skills. I can't help it that the only Backstreet boys I really ever liked were Joey Fatone and JC Chasez. I can't help it if the silly arguments between Ryan Seacrest and Simon are JUST the reason I've got to DIE!!! I can't help it if Bruno Tonioli and his colorful remarks make me laugh out loud! I can't help it that Mario Lopez (who went pretty far last year on "Dancing With The Stars" AND hosted "America's Best Dance Crew") is NOW cuter to me than he EVER was on Saved By The Bell - tell me I'm not alone!

Once again, my answer is quite simple, if I really think about it.

Why do I love those shows? Why do I NEED to have DVR? Why do Rodney and I have little tiffs about who holds the remote when we climb into bed at night?

I'll tell you why - It's SUSAN'S fault!!! THAT'S why!!! LOL!

Mama - I love you~ and I am so thankful that God saw fit for me to land in the sweet spot where the arts, especially music (and a little too much tv) were the constant melody to which we danced. Happy Mother's Day, again, and please know that our little girls getaway last summer to see the tour of "SYTYCD" in Greensboro would not have been near as fun, or even possible, if it hadn't been for you.

Oh me - Where to start! HAHA!

So my last post was April 22nd - holy cow!

I must do the short and sweet version - Here's what I've been up to (again - more for me to look back on than to entertain - anyway...)

The last weekend of April brought miles and miles of fun. I traveled to HOTLANTA for a girls weekend - with 16 of my closest friends!!! For those of you who don't know, I've been a member of a "mom's board" for 4 1/2 years now - started with babycenter - then branched off into a "private" board soon thereafter to help keep snoopy hooligans from seeing our precious kids and information which is intended for appropriate eyes only. The branch off board is called "Blue Moon," named for the relationship that has been forged around the world between the members - "once in a blue moon" kinda thing (and we all have September 2003 babies in common, who have a sapphire birthstone). :) ANYWAY, coming from all over the USA, the 17 of us met there with relaxing, eating, and more relaxing on the itinerary. One of the highlights of the trip was the Saturday night meal at Fogo de Chao - a Brazilian Steakhouse, where I ate at least 24 ounces of meat. I kid you not. We also went to see Baby Mama, which I'm pleased to acknowledge was a VERY funny flick. Steve Martin was a "scene stealer" (as my friend Adie would say!), and the mommy humor was right ON!
...Here are a handful of pictures documenting the fabulous time that was had by all...

I'd love to tell more and more and more about the Atlanta vacation - but since I've got much more to catch up on, I'll keep goin'...

We got a new camera - a Nikon D80 - HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, BABY!!! or THANK YOU UNCLE SAM (however you'd like to slice it)... It arrived while I was in Atlanta, and Rodney got to break it in. Although he did take a good 150 or more pictures before I got home, I think it's safe to say that I've cought up with him between April 28th and May 9th - let's see - if I actually tally up how many pictures I've taken in that 11 day time frame - the grand total comes to ................... 1,502 pictures!!! LOL! Can I just say "holy cow" one more time! But come on! Who can blame me?! When you have subjects as precious as these, what's a mommy to do BESIDES snap, snap, snap!? Forgive me, y'all - i'm about to overload the senses with Steelman boy pics!!! Hopefully, you're in need of a fix. ;)

So here I sit, about an hour and a half after starting my post - next time, I'll try to remember to resize my pictures before trying to add them. Big pictures take ALL NIGHT!

One last tidbit worth journaling - I plan to take Carter to the doc tomorrow (Saturday)... I'm putting money on him having an ear infection - This is #5 this year! I'm going to let out one last - Holy cow!
