1234

You guys. I am so excited to share this.
I really, really love music.

My favorite "genre," believe it or not, is the sort of Contemporary Christian sound - like - Kenneth Cope, Hilary Weeks, Julie de Azevedo, Michael McLean... (all of these are particularly LDS artist, but that's not really the point)... Could listen to it all day, every day.

After that - I love country (from Carrie Underwood to George Strait - just about any of them!) and adult easy listening (like Chicago, Celine, you get the picture). I'm sounding like such a goob, but I do not care. I am just being honest.

So many of the current hits (on the radio) are so eeh, and really lack that "it factor" that makes it appeal to me. But, every so often I'll find some newer music that will have "it."

Well, my friends - it happened yesterday - and I haven't been able to get this song out of my head! I realize that to have qualified my musical taste at the very beginning of the post as favoring Contemporary Christian music may make you hurry to get away from here - but seriously give it a chance!

Lastly - I must say that I think I have been able to somehow identify what the "it factor" of all of this is, at least in my humble opinion. I think "it" is - the quality of a song to be non-offensive to anyone. My Pa, your boss, my grand daddy, your daughter, my son - Anyone. UN-OFFENSIVE music, people. That's what I'm talking about. Not to mention the lyrics are sweet as pie.

Here. Take a listen. "1234" by Plain White T's. You can thank me later. :)

This one goes out to the 4 "easiest to love" men in my life. Rodney & The 3 Steelboys.

I listen to Contemporary Christian music 95% of the time. It's very feel good and uplifting, and I don't have to worry about censoring some songs. Love it!

We like that song at our house, too. In fact, a couple weeks ago we downloaded the whole album on Amazon for $1.99. Sa-weet!

And we love Kenneth Cope at our house, too. We just saw him in concert for the second time a couple weeks ago. His music is wonderful, and he seems like such a great person. And he was just released as the bishop in his ward. Wouldn't that be weird if he was your bishop?

I loved that! You would probably like Meredith Andrews too! I met her at a pageant in high school and now she has a record label out of Nashville. She is awesome and occasionally comes to NC on tour. Check her out at meredithandrews.com

Thanks, Leah! Over the last 6 years I've cut my music back to 95% LDS artists and 5% country/bluegrass (along with the occasional pulling out of my old Chicago CD's.) I'm not sure my kids have ever heard me turn on the radio because it's too hard to drive and worry about censoring lyrics/messages I don't want any of us to hear. Thanks for sharing such an uplifting song! (I've been listening to my "new" Mindy Gledhill CD for the past 2 months...guess it's time to branch out again!)

Oh, Pa! Don't you worry. All you need to know is you've made both of my lists - and you're at the very top of one, and the very bottom of the other. ;) LOVE YOU!

I love that song!! Dan, me and the girls were all dancing to that last week, haha! And I too, love all the contemporary uplifting songs like Kenneth Cope. I have a lot of those cd's you mentioned, but my favorite right now is called 'Daughter of a King'. You can totally burn it from me, it's beautiful and Lillie has all the songs memorized.

I love this song Leah, thanks for sharing. BTW, I found my jacket. It was at Pooh's townhouse, we found it when I was helping him pack. It was like Christmas all over again.
